Filled selection with beveled edges, pattern fill
layer for background. Top layer is a solid fill layer,
the mask was painted out using a hard pastel
on canvas brush.

Snow and ice melt off the rocks supporting the channel wall of
the Holland Channel in West Michigan. A Gradient layer was
added to warm the sky a bit, the area over the channel marker was
painted out in the layer mask to keep the green and white at their
original colors.
